Rhetorical Factory Show July 2015!

All new show scheduled, opening July 10, 2015 at Rhetorical Factory!

So excited for summer!

And here’s why…. 2 months ago I had a sit down, that’s amazing, brainstorm-y idea to collaborate with one of my favorite local artists. Today I ordered 9 yards of fabric from Spoonflower for what will become the centerpieces of my July show “Getting Off the Wall” at Rhetorical Factory in West Asheville.

This locally powered shop focuses on upcycling clothes and innovative design. Bethany Adams, the designer and captain of the ship at the shop,  had an inspiring boots on the ground meeting with me yesterday. She and I have had wonderful success in the past collaborating on projects (if you’ve ever seen me in a CLicKs shirt) and I can’t wait to see what she creates with my images! The show will also include 20 original glass art tiles which I’ve been working on for most of this year.

Come see what we’ve been dreaming up. . . second Saturday, July 10, 2015.

Tangleheart Carousel – Glass Art Tile 6″x6″ with wood stand available at upcoming show July 2015 at Rhetorical Factory in West Asheville.

Poetry On Demand

If you see a man dressed something like “Joliet” Jake Blues, with a robin’s egg blue typewriter balanced on a cigarette-girl tray slung around his neck and a sign that reads “Poetry on Demand” then you are in the presence of one Eddie Cabbage, poetry busker. At first you might feel a bit shy about approaching him, but once he starts to clack keys, to ding and swing the shiny chrome return bar on this old school tidy typing contraption, you’ll be drawn in. And if you slip him a couple bucks he’ll compose a few original thoughts, string them together on his personal enigma machine and pass them on to you.

Here is the poem that made my husband look like the slickest, most romantic guy in the room. . . well to me anyway.

Enjoyment by Eddie Cabbage, Poetry on Demand

Comes in small bursts
A laugh that makes you squeal
and milk spurt from the nose

A childs smile
and learning to do something for
the first time

The first hint of fall in the air,
and music close to the ear

Joy is contagious and we all
Hope to get there

Take life as it comes
and enjoy every moment till it
quickly passes

Good advice, and much more fun than a fortune cookie!  Find Eddie Cabbage at large in Asheville, being sustained and inspired by ”the support of such a beautiful city, imaginative community, and the muses on every street corner.”

Poetry on Demand will soon be available via AVLPoetry.com

4.9.11: Radiant Rotation at the Circle

I had an amazing opening reception at the Circle Gallery at 426 Haywood Road.  There was a steady flow of people all afternoon and lots of interested oohs and aahs watching the radiants spin on the wall and do their Rohrschachian abstract thing. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Then you’re missing out!  Check out my beautiful, free spinning radiant images at the Circle Gallery now through May 9 and get a gander for yourself!
